Does a user get notified when they have earned a badge?
Once you have added a badge to the site or course, a notification is sent to users who have earnt that badge. These notifications can be customised to do this complete the steps below:

Site/Course Administration > Badges > Manage Badges > Message tab

Here you can change the default message subject and message body

Tick Attach badge to message and this will attach the badge to the learners email for download

Notify badge creator, by selecting this you can manage how often the badge creator gets notified when a new badge has been issued. (don't worry you can turn this to never)

Once you are happy with your settings click Save
