What are badges?

What can badges be used for?

Badges are a digital way of awarding users for their achievement or being able to demonstrate certain skills, knowledge or behaviours.

Users can display their badges publicly over a variety of social and professional platforms. When badges are shared and shown details of the badge are shown (for example the criteria for earning the badge and the organisation who awarded it)

There are 2 types of badges

  • Site badges - these are available to all users within a site and awarded for activities or criteria at system level (for example adding information to a user profile, or completing a program)

  • Course badges - these are available to enrolled users on a course and awarded for activities, behaviours or actions within a course (for example completing an activity or the course)
